Athletes Gaining DISCIPLINE

This month we are talking to our athletes about DISCIPLINE: gaining self-control, being well-behaved and focused. During this first few training months of each season, it is imperative that our athletes are disciplined. They have to go back to building strength and core muscles so that they can execute the demanding physical skills of all-star cheerleading. Much of their practices include conditioning drills and repeptitiion of exercises done perfectly before progressing. This type of discipline now is what will lead them to be well-trained, high achieving athletes in their season.

Here’s a video of our Junior 4 team from last season. ONLY 12 athletes… our DETERMINED DOZEN, or you could say our DISCIPLINED DOZEN.

Anyone who knows the sport, knows that doing a full 2 1/2 minute routine with just twelve athletes is very difficult. Each athlete has to do more, and has less rest time, than they would with say, a team of 20. These girls trained hard last season and were one of our most DISCPLINED teams.

At ATHLETIC PERFECTION, we train CHAMPIONS and in doing so, our athletes gain a sense of discipline that often trnaspires into all areas of life. In fact, our athletes are tallking about ways they can be more discplined at school and home.

Off to a GREAT Start

This week we begin practices with our 2012-2013 ALL-STAR CHEER TEAMS. Very exciting week for the athletes. They get to meet “their” team! New friends! New skills! It’s a very fun part of the season. Great turn-out for our try-outs for our new CHEER teams. Over 100 athletes came out and we were able to create some fantastic teams for ALL ages and levels. Try-outs for our new CHEER teams are on the following days…

Tuesday, April 17, 7-8 p.m.
Thursday, April 19, 7-8 p.m.
Saturday, April 21, 10-11 a.m.

You only need to attend one day. Assessments take approximately 15 minutes. EVERYONE makes a team.

We Train CHAMPIONS

This past weekend our teams had much success at the jamfest nationals in Long Beach, CA. Teams from all over the Western United States attended. All five of our FULL-YEAR teams earned NATIONAL TITLES. The gym took first place in the Small Mini 1, Small Youth 2, Small Junior 1, Junior 4 & Small Senior 3 Divisions.

In addition, we earned several specialty awards. Mini 1 & Youth 2 won MOST ENTERTAINING. Junior 1, Youth 2, Junior 4 and Senior 3 all won Grand CHAMPIONS for their respective levels. Junior 4 was Grand Champion of the entire competition. Junior 4 and Senior 3 also won the Full-Paid Bids to US Finals.

All teams had their best performances of the season. Couldn’t have asked for a better finale for the year. Every AP athlete earned a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP JACKET!

Teams will celebrate again this Friday at our End of Season Awards Night. Looking forward to spending the evening with our CHAMPIONS!

NATIONALS WEEK- A 10-YEAR TRADITION

This week is tradionally known as NATIONALS WEEK @ Athletic Perfection! Since April of 2003, AP has been making the FINAL week of practices for our all-star cheer teams, a week of TREMENDOUS FUN & EXCITEMENT! Athletes will start today with TEAM COLOR day. A rainbow of CHAMPIONS will fill the blue mats today as Pink, Gold, Purple, Black & Teal practice together. They’ll sweat. They’ll laugh. They’ll feel a great sense of accomplishment as they look through the 2011-2012 YEARBOOK distributed tonight while trying to get EVERY new and old friend to sign. Tuesday they’ll come in as TWINS: Big Sis & Little Sis. So fun to see what each pair has put together. Most often it’s a “homemade” shirt courtesy of the BIG SIS who spent her weekend with a hot glue gun and rhinestones. Wednesday concludes with an ALL-TEAM showcase for family and friends. The gym will be packed with FANS excited to see the FINAL routines. This year we’re ending Wednesday with a highlight video of all the “special” moments of the season. Everyone loves NATIONALS WEEK. Every AP athlete from 2002-2012 will tell you it’s one of the BEST parts of AP, and one of the many reasons why our motto is: THERE’S NO PLACE LIKE HOME: ONE NAME, ONE GYM, ONE FAMILY of CHAMPIONS!

GYM ADDS NEW PARTNERS

Tracy, California- — March 10, 2012-Andrea Fagundes and Jennifer Moore are becoming owners of Athletic Perfection Cheer & Tumbling Gym. Julie Van Os, the gym’s current owner, will remain as owner as well.

Both Andrea and Jenn have worked for Athletic Perfection since it opened in Tracy in 2002.

“I’m thrilled that both of them will now become a bigger part of AP,” Julie Van Os says. “They both have so much to offer and their new commitment is going to highly enhance the gym’s high-quality programs.”

Athletic Perfection offers competitive cheer teams, tumbling and dance classes, choreography and custom camps for cheer teams throughout the state.

“In my new role, I hope to inspire the pursuit of excellence, “Andrea Fagundes says. “And the influence of internal satisfaction received through hard work.”

ALWAYS learning more than CHEER…

This past weekend we attended JAMZ Nationals in Las Vegas, Nevada- Very FUN competition! This was our first season attending the competition, and we only took two teams: Junior 4 & Small Senior 3.

Junior 4 had a rough first day. They were a bit overwhelmed by the surroundings and it got the best of them. They were very upset with themselves as their tears demonstrated. They came back strong day two; they had something to prove and they did. Their fans were in awe, and this time it was their parents and coaches in tears. Tears from being inspired. Inspired by the team’s resilience. They never give up, and they demonstrate every time they take the floor, the ability to move on from past mistakes : to acknowledge them, learn from them, and then use them to become stronger. LOVE AP JUNIOR BLACK 2011-2012!

Senior 3 had two rock-solid performances- their best of the season thus far. Came in 1st BOTH days; unfortunately, due to a legality on day one, they dropped down to 6th for their first performance. Extremely heartbreaking… Yet again, the proved to be TRUE CHAMPIONS. They didn’t let the placing get the best of them; instead, they came out day two with a mission to “Move up.” And they did! They had the highest score again on day two and it was enough to bring them up from 6th to 2nd place. We all know who the REAL CHAMPIONS are and we are so proud that they are @ ATHLETIC PERFECTION! Keep up the hard work and determination Senior Teal! It continues to INSPIRE!
